American Legion Post 230 opened its doors in February 2, 1949. The post was named after Staff Sergeant James Alvin LeBlanc of the U.S. Army Air Corps, was killed in action in Africa November 9th, according to an official notice from the War Department received Sunday by his parents, Technical Sergeant George L. LeBlanc and Mrs. LeBlanc of Ft. Bragg. LeBlanc who was 20 years of age, graduated from the Fayetteville High School in 1940 and enlisted in the Air Corps at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina.
